Picture the Possibilities

Affordable tuition. Flexible class formats. A community that's ready to help you succeed.

Affordable

Virginia's community colleges offer some of the lowest tuition in the nation. Financial aid, scholarships, and payment plans make it even easier.

Flexible

Five class formats — online, hybrid, on campus, and more — so you can learn on your schedule, from wherever works for you.

Supportive

Dedicated advisors, free tutoring, and a faculty that knows your name. You're not a number here — you're part of a community.

Learn Your Way

Whether you're at home, on campus, or somewhere in between — we fit your life. Choose from five class formats. (Options may vary by semester)

5 class format options at SVCC: Online, Zoom to Home, Seated, Hybrid, and Video Broadcast
1

Online

100% online via Canvas. No face-to-face class meetings or scheduled class time

2

Zoom to Home

Connect real-time at home with lectures during class meeting time on the scheduled days and times

3

Seated

Classes meet on campus or at our off-campus centers on the scheduled days and times

4

Hybrid

Classes offered partially seated, with partially online learning activities

5

Video Broadcast via Zoom

Classes meet on the days, times, and locations listed on the class schedule

Helpful Tip: The first character of the class section number (ex: O11A) lets you know how your course will be offered. O = Online, H = Hybrid, A = Zoom to Home

Hear From Our Students

Anita Harper
"SVCC was the perfect place for me to start. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but staying close to home while adjusting to college life made all the difference. My professors were approachable and genuinely cared about my success. SVCC wasn’t just a college for me; it was a community that shaped who I am today."
Anita Harper Graduate, Charles City
Magie Wilkerson
"Attending GSSV/SVCC taught me to manage rigorous expectations and take ownership of my learning. Balancing high school and college courses strengthened my time management and self-discipline skills I rely on every day. YES (would recommend)! SVCC is a place to discover your strengths, explore your interests, and prepare for your future."
Magie Wilkerson Director of Secondary Education, Mecklenburg County
Antonio Patterson
"I would absolutely recommend SVCC to others. The idea that community college isn't as good as a four-year school is outdated. SVCC has some of the best educators and programs you'll find. And whether you're transferring or training for a career, they make the next step achievable."
Antonio Patterson Graduate, Mecklenburg County
